Frieling French Press Ultimo 33-42oz ~ Insulated Stainless Steel Mirror Finish Coffee Press

A real 5 star item

Been using it for at least few months now… Know that I’m really fussy about how things work or don’t work as it often is these days. This coffee maker is solid, sturdy, easy to use, insulated-keeps the coffee hot, and makes GREAT coffee (all probably because its NOT from China).

——————

Don’t listen to the person who said it sprays burning hot coffee out the spout when you push to press the coffee. The instructions that come with it are very clear. It warns you to NEVER fill it above the spout. Remedial reading courses can be found on the Internet but common sense can’t. This coffee maker is a real keeper (worth every penny)!

MY SIX YEARS WITH A FRIELING: Over 3,500 Brews Later… How to Buy a French Press, and a Frieling Review

“One chews coffee beans while gargling 200 F water for four minutes; pressing with the tongue, coffee is filtered through the teeth: is this the French press you refer to?” — M. Python

AN INTRODUCTION TO COFFEE AMBROSIA.

It’s a quest for flavor. It’s all about flavor. You are here searching for the best quality French Press, one that delivers the most flavorful coffee possible. You might be new to French Press and are rightly skeptical about the vulnerability and safety of a glass model. Or, you might be experienced, a Bodum or BonJour refugee exasperated by having to replace your second, or third, or even your seventh broken glass beaker. No cuts? Lucky you. Been there.

Below: First is a look at buying a French Press, followed by a Review of the Frieling French Press, then info on grinders, accessories, buying coffee, and brewing the best French Press…

Great product

My husband loves coffee made with a French press. We have had three with the glass body. The first one wasn’t insulated and did not keep the coffee warm enough to drink a second cup a little later. So we bought an insulated glass pot. It worked great but then my young adult daughter broke it making herself coffee one morning. I purchased a replacement and within two weeks, my young adult son had dropped it. I bought this stainless steel coffee press for my husband for Christmas. He is in 7th Heaven! He has hot coffee and we no longer have to worrry about someone breaking it in the process of cleaning it.

Alfi Juwel Chrome Plated Brass Thermal Carafe, 33-Ounce

Best thermos I have ever purchased

I stayed at a friend’s home and first used this thermos there. It keeps my tea hot much longer than any thermos I have ever used. It’s great — hot to the last drop!

Great carafe

It’s beautiful and lights up every morning. Well worth the cost. The product has a 5-year warranty but the last one we had before lasted over 18 years.

Great, I wish it is bigger. Updated (glass liner broken within 7 months)

Keep hot water over night. The quality is good. I would like to buy a bigger one than 50 oz.

Update (Nov. 2013): Glass liner exploded within 7 months. Left voice message and no response so far. Also left an message on the company’s website. No response either.

Nespresso C110-US-RE-NE CitiZ Automatic Single-Serve Espresso Maker, Fire-Engine Red

As much art as function – Nespresso Citiz White Espresso Maker D 110 CW

I have experienced a holiday 2009 embarrassment of riches. I purchased a DeLonghi EC155 espresso machine as a gift for my wife after much research and we have used it for for 2 days with much pleasure. As a total surprise, we received a Nespresso D110 as a family gift during a party, and we could not refuse it. It will be interesting to compare the $83 DeLonghi (with another $20 rebate in the mail) to, if I have the price right on Amazon, a $279.00 Nespresso D110.

First of all, the Nespresso D110 is really beautiful–as much a work of art as a functional machine. The “winter white” is more of a cream color and the machine itself reminds me of an art deco juke box from the 1950s, if that makes any sense. It is very slim and looks beautiful on the counter top. The DeLonghi is much more utilitarian, with obviously less expensive materials (again, the price difference makes sense). If I use a PC analogy, the D110 is a Mac (elegant, incredibly simple to use, and…

Unbelievably Fantastic!

I would not have thought I would be alive long enough to see a “Jetsons” reality. (I guess Raymond Kurzweil was right when he said technology will grow exponentially) This is truly a futuristic dream come true. The Nespresso produced coffee is the best. Perfectly intense without bitterness. I cannot imagine how someone could invent something so easy to use without compromising even a fraction of quality.

I purchased the bundle, Citiz and Aeroccino Frother and together they make an incredible latte.

Perfect for the coffee making newbie and those afraid of traditional espresso machines

I bought this machine as an x’mas present for my mother who loves her coffee but is afraid of the steam from traditional espresso machines, hates the hassle of French Press, and dislikes drip coffee.

This product was an instant hit. Just switch the machine on, run it through once to rinse the machine & heat up the cup, then insert the capsule and press for a tasty cuppa. Repeat for a second cup. So simple a four year old did it too.

Added benefit is that this particular machine has a slim footprint and the water tank holds enough water for quite a few cups so the machine itself can be placed wherever you would like your coffee. So far the machine has been 1. in the kitchen, 2. upstairs in her bedroom on Sundays for a luxurious breakfast in bed 3. out tailgating plugged into the car inverter 4. in various hotel rooms during her spring roadtrips.

The folding cup tray, enables you to use either a cup or mug directly under the spout.

DeLonghi Stainless Steel Burr Coffee Grinder with Grind Selector and Quantity Control

Quiet and perfect grinds

I had a Cuisinart conical burr grinder. MISTAKE. Like others’ experiences, mine just quit after a short while. I was hesitant to buy an electric burr grinder after my Cuisinart experience. For a while I ground using a mini food chopper, then got a Mr. Coffee blade grinder. Mr. Coffee had a number of cups and fineness control both of which were essentially useless. Manually grinding and monitoring were more effective. I thought I’d try my luck and look for an electric burr grinder again. I saw the DeLonghi KG89 and decided to take a chance. It is much quieter than the Cuisinart. In fact, quieter than the Mr. Coffee blade grinder. I filled the upper container, set the number of cups and fineness, and started it. It ground the beans perfectly. I measured the output. It was exactly what I would have measured out from ground coffee. Hoping that it lasts longer than the Cuisinart. But, so far, two thumbs up.

Works great, no problems.

After returning the Capresso 560 Infinity that I had purchased from Amazon (didn’t like the controls, or lack of same) I ordered this DeLonghi instead. Not knowing much about these grinders, I didn’t know what I was missing until I got the DeLonghi. There are two settings – one for number of cups and one for fineness of the grind. You set those two controls, put your beans in, and press the on button. That’s it. It’s not terribly noisy (any electric grinder will be loud), it’s not messy as some reviews said, and as an extra bonus, it’s a nice looking little machine. I make filter-cone-type drip coffee and I set the grind on exactly halfway between course and fine the first time I used it. I found it was not quite what I wanted so the second time I used it, I set it two notches toward fine and the coffee was perfect. This machine is not a conical burr grinder, but maybe I’m not a purist enough to notice that as a problem. It’s easy to use, looks nice and makes good ground coffee. What…

It’s OK, but it has some major flaws

When new this thing works pretty good. The only criticism is that the receptacle for the grounds is very static-y and hard to get all the grounds out of. I finally just gave up and leave a layer of dust in there, and so most of the coffee grounds come out easier. When you pull the receptacle out of the grinder it “poops” some grounds on the counter, EVERY time, so I have got in the habit of picking the whole dang thing up and holding it over the sink when I pull out the grounds.

The grind size selector is very flimsy and often jams. I have to struggle with my large hands to get the little grinder attachment out, clean it, reinstall it (not easy) and then manually adjust it so I don’t break the knob (I can feel the linkage inside bending as if it’s going to break if I don’t). With the delicious, oily French roast I use this thing requires frequent cleaning or it just jams up.

I would rate it 2 start but the good thing is with those simple work-arounds and…

58 mm Aluminum Reg Barber Tamper – Espresso Supply 21420-58

An awesome tamper for the home barista!! :-)

What can I say??

I really LOVE this tamper!! I love the build quality and heft for the price, (I ended up getting the stainless steel base for mine). I like that I don’t have to work nearly as hard to tamp my espresso puck anymore and I can get a superior tamp EVERY TIME!! :-)

This, (along with my new grinder), has made my espresso making much more of a joy. I can get awesome crema and a reliable puck every time. I also like the build quality and reliability of this tamper. I had a tamper before that was so light and not very well made, and, WOW, what a difference build quality makes!!! :-D

The only downside was that I paid almost $75 for this seemingly simple piece of equipment. That sounds like a lot, until you consider that these are handmade by a small workshop, and they do very high quality craftsmanship. I think I am more than willing to pay for that. I don’t know what you think, but I think it’s worth $75 for the amount of work that…

Nice Choice of Gifts

I bought this as a thank-you gift for a small business that is doing some work for me. They were happily surprised when they received this basket of goodies. The thank-you E-mail to me stated, “I couldn’t think of a better way to spoil my lunch today.”

First time trying this coffee and really enjoyed it! Smooth and not bitter. I would definently buy this coffee again.

Very Very Good!

If you like your coffee Medium than this is a perfect choice. No bitterness at all. Right up there with more expensive brews. Marley Coffee is my favorite, but this is a close second. Enjoy!

Nice Coffee!

Tea Whisk 25 + spoon

Great whisk

Love the whisk and spoon. Container is cheap tho, I thought it was thicker plastic but it bends and once you use whisk it expands lip will not fit top securely. Whisk and spoon are great, container not what is described.

good good

It worked as expected. I think the only problem I had was that after I used it for the first time, the whisk no longer fit in the container…

Whisky Business

The quality in the photo is certainly misleading. It appears to be solid quality that offers a decent life-span. Now for the price, it’s not a total flop, but I was disappointed to find the Chasen’s whiskers expanded and lost their shape within the first two uses. The cheap bamboo expands and blossoms outward a bit more each use. The whisk no longer fits in the plastic container it comes with without the lid popping back off. The center bamboo piece expanded and lost it shape the most. I’ve been using mine everyday for 3 weeks and it seems like I’ll get maybe another 2 weeks tops out of it before I need to seek out a better, more durable Tea Whisk.

The scoop is made of very cheap wood. The container is made of thin, flimsy plastic. The biggest disappointment is the appearance after it begins to loose it’s form. It is something I anticipated displaying with my Matcha tea set up. It will soon only compliment my garage can.

Green Mountain Coffee Extra Bold Sumatran Reserve K-Cups (72 count)

My Favorite K-cup

I like a stronger coffee in the morning and this fits the bill. It has a bite but isn’t bitter…in fact, it has a little sweetness to it (though I understand all this depends on your taste buds…). Since it’s a bold version, you use the larger cup button…but I run water through this twice on the smaller (6oz) cup setting (yes…I use a BIG mug) and it’s perfect with cream (no sugar….).

Green Mountain Coffee

Flavor strong and robust. Every cup you drink taste good. Green Mountain coffee is smooth tasting. Good to wake up too.

Nice extra bold taste

This is labeled extra bold and it pretty much meets that standard. It is a big taste; there is a bit of an "edge" to it, but, other than that, this helps me start the day quite nicely.

Bodum Chambord Hotel 8 Cup Stainless Steel French Press Coffeemaker, 1.0 l, 34-Ounce.

Love Bodum; hate being lied to

This is my forth french press (third Bodum). As far as functionality is concerned, it has the typical quality of a Bodum product that you have come to expect, which is excellent. The problem is that the description is a lie! The filter is one of those rubber + plastic ones that most try to avoid because of health and/or taste issues. It appears that Amazon added the claim of the Chambord containing a “3-part stainless steel mesh filter”, since Bodum’s website mentions nothing about it.

If you are looking to replace the filter with the 3-part mesh from a glass Bodum, don’t bother; Bodum’s website says that filter components from the glass presses will not fit into the stainless steel presses.

I am very disappointed…

Keep Looking

I was so looking forward to this press. Like many of you, I was so tired of breaking the expensive glass carafe. I had tried the Bodum Columbia stainless model, but it tipped over on my counter repeatedly leaving a huge mess. I waited for Bodum to release this model thinking it was the answer to my prayers. It is unbreakable, inexpensive, and the strainer is one piece!! BUT, it doesn’t strain without clogging!! You lose 25% of your brew each pour. The pour is slow and the screen is easily clogged. I have set my grinder to the coarsest grind and it still clogs. I am so disappointed. Worse yet, I contacted Bodum and asked if anyone ever tests these products before release and I have yet to hear from them.

Dishwasher safe and not fragile

I got this pot to replace a standard glass 8 cup bodum after seeing one of these in a resturant. It has lived up to all expectations:

1) dishwasher safe

2) unlikly to shatter all over the kitchen when dropped on a granite counter top

3) brewing the coffee I’ve come to expect from a bodum

The only unexpected feature is that the plunger/filter assembly doesn’t unscrew the way the they do with glass bodum pots. This doesn’t affect performance in any way, it was just unexpected.

Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade Pumpkin Spice, K-cups for Keurig Brewers, 24-count 8.8 Ounce Box (Pack of 2)

Good, but too expensive

These are very tasty, but Bed Bath and Beyond has 18 packs for $9.95 – much better than the 48 for $44.95 here on Amazon.

Great Taste

I love the Pumpkin Spice K-Cup! I typically drink bold and extra bold coffees – and the Pumpkin Spice doesn’t qualify as either. But it smells just like pumpkin pie….and tastes pretty close to it as well. One thing I found out though is to definitely add some kind of sweetener (whether it be artifical sweetener or sugar). I always drink coffee with just cream…and when I did so with the Pumpkin Spice, I really didn’t think much of it. However, as soon as I added a packet of artificial sweetener, the pumpkin flavor just came to life and I loved it! So even if you don’t typically add sweetener, try it with and without – and I’d be willing to bet that you’ll like it much better with the sweetener.

On a side note, do a little price shopping. Amazon typically has good prices on a number of things, but not always on K-Cups. Normal pricing is $13.95 for boxes of 22 or 24 (some kinds come in quantities of 22…others are 24). If you sign up for the “Subscribe and Save”,…

Great! One of my favorite flavored coffees!

If you like other Green Mountain flavored coffees, especially if you like the other seasonal light-roast flavors, you will probably like this one. I really liked the Green Mountain Blue-Berry and thought I would try this and am very pleased. It seems like a great fit for the fall. The flavor and aroma seem a bit stronger than in the blue-berry. Like the blue-berry, this is a light roast. At first I thought light would mean weak, but it seems like the perfect match for the flavor so that it is still coffee and nicely flavored without either over-powering the other. It is nothing like a starbucks. So if you want a strong coffee taste above all, then this isn’t one for you, but if you want a nice flavored light coffee, I think it is great.

Like other flavored coffees, you should only brew this on the normal default coffee cup size (6oz) on the Keurig brewer or you will water it down if you use the mug size or larger.

Eva Solo Cafe Solo Coffee Maker with Neoprene Cover, 1.4-Liter, Black

One of the best ways to brew coffee

This is a great product for those who want to brew the smoothest, most flavorful coffee possible! But I think perhaps some people don’t want to deal with choices in how they prepare their coffee and would rather have the convenience of automation (and pre-packaged blandness)–in which case the CafeSolo, while fairly simple to use, may not be for them.

Better Than…

I started out with a drip coffee maker. After years of making sometimes bitter, sometimes thin, but never great tasting coffee, I looked into Chemex. I was still not satisfied with the pleasant but weak brew that resulted. Finally, I read a rave review of the Eva Solo product on a coffee specialist site. The reviewer (an editor for the site) said he found the CafeSolo to produce a better full-bodied brew than either a French press or a vacuum pot, partly because it controls the temperature so well. I like the idea of a full immersion brewing system, so I bought it and immediately produced a very…

This is your machine for smoothe black coffee

Not only does the Cafe Solo look cool, but it makes a great cup of coffee (or two).

It is EXTREMELY easy to use and it does save you time when you need a cup of coffee quickly. The hardest part of making coffee in the Cafe Solo is waiting for the water to boil, via the old stove top, microwave or old drip coffee pot thingy.

I add five tablespoons of coffee and fill the carafe to just below the neck, stir, wait a few minutes (four minutes go by quick when you are busy with your morning routine), no need to watch as the sleeve keeps the coffee warm for up to a half hour anyway. The sleeve looks and feels like a wet suit.

The end product is a smoothe cup of coffe that stays nice and warm for that second cup.

I have forgotten to put the sleeve on once or twice and managed to get it on with a full carafe of hot coffee without burning my hands. You just hold the flask by the neck, which should not hold any coffee anyway and slip the sleeve over…

Beautiful to look at, makes excelent coffee

This is the most beautiful coffee maker ever made. Its design is simple, yet functional, and provides an original and ingenious way to make coffee.

There are no pumps, presses, or other gadgets. Here you brew coffee the way it was originally made, stirring hot water and coffee. The shape is not only elegant, but NEVER EVER drips.

Quality is the best I’ve seen ever. It leaves everything else in the dust.

6 Tim Hortons Freshly Sealed Fine Grind New Bags 12oz Coffee Each

Great Coffee — Great Everything

If you ever visit Canada you cannot miss the Ubiquitous Tim Horton’s franchises, it seems as if they are on every corner (and small wonder: everything they sell is excellent, reasonably priced, and served with typical Canadian efficiency and politeness.) The quality of Tim Horton’s coffee is pretty remarkable — it is very, very good — and the price is not outrageous (I picked up a 39 ounce can in a Canadian Walmart for about $16.50 in American dollars toward the end of november, 2010, which was about the same price they were selling for in the Tim Horton’s stores.) Note: Their decaf is every bit as good, but I haven’t been able to find it in cans larger than 13 ounces.

Best Coffee Ever!

I love, love, love Tim Horton’s coffee! It is the best. Everytime I go out of town I take it with me because it is the best coffee ever. The first thing that my relatives say to me when I get off of the plane is, “where is the Tim Horton’s?” I am from Buffalo, NY and there are numerous Tim Horton’s coffee shops here! Thank goodness! I don’t know what I would do without my Tim Horton’s coffee every day!!!! I even brew it at home. It is the best ever!!

The very best coffee ever!!

My family has been drinking Tim Horton coffee for over a year now. We absolutely love the taste and flavor – much better than the most popular brands found in the U.S. I can’t wait for Amazon to start carrying T.H. coffee again. I have to send to Canada just to get our favorite brew. Once you try it you will be ruined for life because nothing else will satisfy your need for a good cup of coffee.

Nespresso C120-US-RE-NE CitiZ Automatic Single-Serve Espresso Maker and Milk Frother, Fire-Engine Red

Great coffee… no gimmick. Alien UFO technology? Possibly.

With all the new style espresso machines on the market (Tassimo, Keurig, Flavia, etc.) I was convinced that Nespresso was more of the same: a set of stylish gimmicks designed to convince you that this “espresso” (though not real at all) was “the real thing.” It never is.

Which is why the Nespresso is so great. It IS the REAL THING. The capsules contain nothing more than espresso coffee grounds. The machine is simply an automated and miniaturized “real” espresso rig. And the results speak for themselves:

– full bodied crema like you get from the best barista

– speedy and HOT cups of espresso

– the espresso produced is crisp and clear, full bodied, and smooth

– my Sicilian wife and all her relatives (numerous, and mostly named “Maria” “Antonina” and “Dominic”) all fully approve of the espresso that comes out. Comparing is to “Nonna’s” would be sacrilege, but although those words have not been spoken yet, I am conviced the thought has…

Love our Nespresso Citiz

I purchased the Nespresso Citiz several months ago and saved it for Christmas. It was a gift for both my husband and myself. Our morning routine has been to brew a pot of coffee, heat milk in the microwave, and froth by hand in a stainless steel frother. Needless to say, there are lots of steps and lots of items for the dishwasher, but we love our morning coffee. The Nespresso was a hit right out of the box. It is so simple to use, the milk froths better than anything we’ve ever done by hand, the expresso is divine. My husband said it best, “It is so good that it makes you think about what you are drinking and appreciate the experience of really good coffee.” Like someone wrote in a previous review, “we’re not going to Starbucks anymore.” Yes it is expensive, but over time can actually save money. Yes, you have to order the pods from Nespresso, but this is high quality expresso and delivery is fast. I purchased the sample box to give us an opportunity to try everything…

Genius, I tell ya!

This machine is brilliant. The best espresso or cappuccino I’ve ever tasted, and all in less than 2 minutes, start to finish. The milk frother is a miracle–quick, perfect, instant cleanup. My wife and I have been wired out of our heads since it arrived. We can’t stop drinking the stuff. We’re giving Stieg Larsson’s characters a run for their caffeinated money! The reason is that all the usual inhibitors are gone: the coffee’s gone cold and acrid in the pot, can’t face the 20-minute production and cleanup for a cup of espresso, etc. It’s like the world’s smartest drug dealers got together and designed this thing. Got the slightest urge? Satisfy it! Why not? Just hit the button and it’s there. Wait a minute, my wife’s calling me. What’s that? We’re out? Excuse me, I have to go knock over a 7/11 so I can order another box of capsules.

Bialetti: Venus 2-Cups

Perfect moka pot for one or two people and stainless steel too!

First of all, this moka pot is a lot better looking in person than it is in the picture. In the picture, it looks kind of like one of those milk/cream pitchers you see at a coffee shop. On top of my stove, though, it looks sleek and sophisticated. I needed a pot that makes enough for one person to have a large espresso or two people to have small ones, and this is the perfect size. Works well and looks quite durable.

The fact that it is stainless steel was important to me. The aluminum pots are more traditional, but they also warp over time and lose their seal. You have to have a tight seal to make these work, so I didn’t want to go the aluminum route. Stainless steel should last me a lifetime.

Philips Saeco RI9737/20 Vienna Plus Automatic Espresso Machine, Silver

Good Superauto for the Money

I recently purchased a Vienna Superautomatica as an inexpensive second espresso maker. The first thing I noticed is that it is Italian made like many of the great espresso machines. The body of the Vienna is “graphite” plastic, and while it does not feel first class, it somehow has a pretty sturdy feel to it. I also like that the footprint is pretty small thus taking up little counter space.

I opened the manual, which is not particularly clear, but need not be on account of very simple operation. The Vienna has three buttons–on/off, coffee, and steam. It also has a steamer control knob and a water volume knob.

I turned on the machine after filling the coffee and water tanks. The buttons feel Italian–you’ll know what I mean if you’ve owned an Alfa Romeo. They are a bit clunky next to my old Capresso C1000, but they work well (for now).

The Vienna takes a couple of minutes to warm up–I don’t mind this for reasons I’ll reveal in a minute. The coffee…

Best value in Automatic Espresso machines

Vienna Plus is my third fully automatic machine. I loved my first, Saeco original Vienna, hated the second, Saeco Incanto classic. The original Vienna worked for 3 years every day, making consistently good espresso before the pump gave. I should have paid for repair, but I succumbed to that stainless steel twinkle and went for Saeco Incanto classic. More expensive for sure. Worse, better said inconsistent, coffee quality, constant small problems relating to built quality concerning the brew group, the grinder and the steamer wand. After a year of irritation a pump seal has failed while making espresso, nothing like a small explosion in the kitchen in the morning, I tell ya. Well, gone back to the trusted Vienna, now with the plus in the name. Good old days are here again …. Compared to previous- it is a lot quieter, when both grinding and steaming, it is also a lot quicker to warm up then before, steam is ready a mere 15 seconds after pushing the button. Espresso has a beautiful…

A Great Cup of Joe: A Saeco Vienna Plus Super-Automatic Espresso Machine Review

We owned a Saeco Vienna Deluxe since January 2004, but decided to purchase a newer model in September 2010. The Vienna Deluxe served us well for six and a half years, but was beginning to show its age. The Saeco Vienna Plus is the updated version of the Vienna Deluxe.

Saeco’s Vienna Plus super-automatic espresso machine is simple to use. Add up to 57 oz filtered cold water to the reservoir, up to 12 oz beans in the hopper, and then turn the machine on. While warming up, adjust the volume dial for a 1 to 6 oz pour. Once ready, press the coffee button once to make an espresso or twice for a double shot or two espressos. If a latte is desired, press the steam button after the espresso has finished brewing and turn the steam knob to activate the pannarello to steam the milk. Turning the steam knob without pressing the steam button will produce hot water from the pannarello instead.

The perfect espresso may require adjusting a couple dials in the hopper. A…

Bodum Chambord 34-Ounce 8-Cup French Press Coffee Maker with Insulating Coffee Coat

This is the way to drink coffee.

Got this for Christmas and am on my fifth day of use. I’m a fully converted french press freak and will never use my drip machine again except for social occasions where I need a bigger brew.

This press works great. It’s easy to press the plunger (even though I have not yet acquired a good grinder to give consistent coarse grounds…my grinder is about as crappy as you can get), it’s easy to clean and the coffee tastes great (richer, thicker and more smooth)…much better than a drip. I asked for the Bodum because of its reputation for quality and so far, I’m impressed.

I typically make enough coffee to fill 2 typical mugs (about 16-20 oz of coffee) and the unit appears about 2/3 full. I’ve not tried to make a full 34 oz, but it doesn’t appear to really hold that much. We’ll see.

The thermal sleeve is a bit of a waste, though. You really shouldn’t leave coffee in a french press to sit because the flavors will continue to extract to the point of…

Best tasting coffee with one design concern

I already own a 3-cup Bodum press, but I was interested in this one because of the insulating coat. As always, the Bodum press makes rich, thick, delicious coffee that leaves a bit of sediment in the bottom of my cup, which I swirl into my last sip, like espresso. French press coffee far surpasses the brew any drip machine makes; it is simply the best coffee you can make without a plumbed machine. As for the grind, I put a pound of beans through the most coarse setting at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s and it works perfectly.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I love the neoprene sleeve. I drink a full pot for myself, which makes two large cups, plus a little extra. (In the summer, I’ll use the excess to make ice cubes for iced coffee.) On work days, I drink one cup right away and pour the remainder into a large thermal stainless mug, but on weekends when I have more time to relax, I leave the coffee in the pot and take my time drinking it. The coffee has gone as long as 45…

Beautiful!

Superbly made in Portugal of Pyrex, Stainless steel, bakelite, chromed brass, and chromed steel. When was the last time you saw something made out of brass? The quality is first class, and it’s a pleasure to use.

The beaker is made of thin Pyrex glass, it’s not a football. I fully expect to break it sooner or later with daily use and very careful handling, hey it is first thing in the morning when I’m usually cleaning it! That’s life, and I don’t consider it a flaw in the materials, design, or workmanship. If I’m lucky it won’t break for a long time… knock wood.

Warning: if you get used to french press coffee, all other coffee will seem sub-standard, lacking body and flavor!

Koppers Chocolate Covered Kona Coffee Beans, 5-Pound Bag

Wonderful and dangerous

As others have reported, these are wonderful and it’s hard to eat just a few, which of course is what one should do. (Although the reported serving size is 1/4 cup, so go for it!)

The label says: “Hand picked real Hawaiian Kona coffee beans dipped in dark chocolate.”

Ingredients (because I was wondering, before ordering): Semisweet chocolate [contains sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin (an emulsifier), vanilla], Kona coffee beans, natural cocoa powder, confectioner’s glaze, gum arabic, natural & artificial flavors.

They are marked with the Kosher K / pareve symbol.

The chocolate and the bean are both good to my mind, and the proportion of the two as well. These are just what I was hoping for, in all their dangerous goodness.

There are a LOT of beans here, too. I filled almost 5 24oz mason jars with this 5-lb. bag. (Yes, I know that doesn’t add up… the difference between an ounce as a weight and an ounce as a…

I love these and I’m back to order more!

I was a little nervous because these were so much cheaper per pound than many other chocolate coffee beans I had seen. However, the price was so good, I went ahead and took the chance. They are wonderful and very addictive. My brother-in-law loves chocolate covered coffee beans too, so I’m going to pick up an extra bag as a gift for him!

I did create a litle problem for myself: I was snacking on these at night and wondering why I was suddenly having trouble getting to sleep. :-)

To die for!

Love these!

Too bad they’re unavailable now, but when I bought my bag, I found these to be fresher than the competition and appropriately priced. They are a little more spendy, but boy do they taste amazing!

The dark chocolate on the outside is smooth and bitter-sweet; going very well with the bitter espresso bean inside. The bean itself isn’t very acidic so it doesn’t take away from the overall flavors.

If this comes back. BUY IT.

Sportea Rocks

I ordered my sportea and it arrived within 10 days. I brew a fresh pint daily and drink it on the rocks with a slice of lemon or orange and a little bit of sugar. It is caffeine free but still is a picker upper in the afternoon. Refreshing and delicious! I would highly recommend it over any tea I have ever tasted.

Cuisinart Coffee Maker – 12 cup – White

Excellent coffee!

Bought this coffee maker for my mom for Christmas, and it makes just about the BEST tasting coffee I’ve had in a long time!

Easy to set up….no dribble or dripping, a five “beep” signal when it’s done perking and a two “beep” signal at the two hour auto-shut-off.

It’s the least expensive of the Cuisinart line, but for the money, it’s the best tasting.

I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great coffee maker.

Cuisinart got it right this time

I bought the Cuisinart coffee maker with a thermos carafe. Not bad, but disappointing in two respects. First, the coffee was not hot enough, and second, the carafe did not pour well, due to the need to have a sealed top, I assume.

So I tried again with a more standard Cuisinart coffee maker ((DCC-1100C). It replaces a Braun, which had worked well for years but suddenly died. This model is pretty close to ideal. Coffee good and hot, a setting for a small number of cups that actually works well, a great carafe, and, of greatest importance, excellent coffee. Also pretty easy to clean.

Finally found a GOOD coffee maker! Cuisinart DC1100 WHT

I have purchased several coffee makers over the last few years, and I can findly say I LOVE my coffee maker!

We have owned two Hamilton Beach, and one Bunn. Not happy with either one of them.

I purchased this coffee maker after reading different reviews, and liked what I read.

We have had it for a month now, and still pleased with this coffee maker.

Pros- reasonably price

the hottest coffee EVER!

love the preset brew (coffee ready when I wake)

nice apperance/ I have the white

Cons- I have no complaints

I would totally recommend this coffee maker to anyone looking for a nice HOT cup of coffee :-) *****

Uncle Lee’s Tea Tea Legend of China White 100 bag ( Multi-Pack)

Great Tea

This tea is amazingly tasty white tea. For most people they may not know what white tea taste like. Where black tea has the acidic taste of coffee and green tea has a very earth/leafy taste, white tea comes in as you would expect for its color. It is very light tasting with almost a lightly sweet maltiness to it. It doesn’t have any of the harshness that you could find in black tea or coffee. And you can’t really over brew it to release off-flavors as there is so little to the leaves. I find this tea works best for iced tea, it works well cold and has a much more refreshing flavor that other teas do on a summer day.

Of course there are there is the added benefit that it is good for you. If you want to try white tea, this is the product for you.

I purchased the organic version before I purchased this one. I saw this one was cheaper so I gave it a try, and I couldn’t readily notice any difference. I ended up just mixing the two boxes together and will continue to buy the…

Health King Medicinal Tea Tea Astragalus Immunity 20 bag ( Multi-Pack)

Good for you, but doesn’t taste so good

This product may very well build up immunity. I drank some when exposed to a virus and didn’t catch it. Of course, we don’t know if I would’ve anyway. But it really does not taste good. It’s not a strong bad taste – just unpleasant. I recommend mixing it with another tea – a fruity tea like peach – to tolerate the taste better.

Works!

I was looking for an adaptogen that would help with my adrenals, fatigue and asthma/breathing. I like to try my herbs for the first time in tea form, so I can control the ingesting amount, in case of an allergy. With tons of good information online and reviews, I decided to go for it. After my first cup, (one tea bag) I can say I feel the affects already. I am breathing more loosely, and notice a spike in my energy. (no jitters) The directions say use 2-4 bags daily. This also has in it: Red Peony, Fo-ti root,Chinese yam, Wolfberry, Green tea, and Jasmine. Not bad tasting either. Shipping was fast, as well. Highly recommend.

Astralagus

According to several sources I’ve read, including THE HERBAL DRUGSTORE, astralagus seemsto be generally benerficial with no known side effects, so I like having it in a tea bag form to mix with my other teas and hopefully benefit from its immune bosting properties..

Cuisinart 14 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker DCC2600C

Great coffee maker

I love this coffee maker! We are big coffee drinkers. I bought this one because it made 2 extra cups of coffee. When my family is here, we can go through five or six pots of coffee. I did not want to buy a commercial coffee maker and all of the others are tweleve cup coffee makers. Anyway, two extra cups help. I love the brew strenth option. You can choose the bold option for brewing. It also has an option of how hot to keep the coffee. I love very hot coffee, so this is nice. I have had this for about six months, and could not be more pleased.

Great Design, Great Coffee

My search for a good coffee maker is over! I tried and returned 4 coffee makers to the store before finding this one on Amazon. The ones that I returned were from Jura, Krups, Braun and Delonghi. All good names, but the coffee was weak or not hot enough.

This Cuisinart has smart features including a bold/mild setting, 1-4 cup setting, warming plate temperature control, glass carafe (that doesn’t drip) with a removable top for easy cleaning and a compact footprint. The coffee brews quickly and quietly. The result is a rich, hot, smooth cup of coffee. I routinely make 6 cups in the morning on the bold setting and occasionally a full pot on the mild setting when guest come over. In both cases, the coffee has been excellent. The overall design is sleek and it looks great in my granite and stainless kitchen. This is a new model for 2010 and Cuisinart definitely got it right.

Cuisinart 14 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker DCC2600

I bought 2 Coffee Makers by Cuisinart the first one we had more then 5 yr.s loved it Bought the Cuisinart 14 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker DCC2600 better yet

Planetary Design Table Top Stainless Steel French Presses 48oz Green Tea

A better mouse trap

This review is only for the Planetary Design 32oz Table Top Stainless Steel French Press in Mocha. I cannot vouch for any other Planetary Design product.

Okay – so like most probably reading this I am a researcher. I tend to like to see real world users and what they think about a product rather then all the mindless marketing hype companies push out.

I don’t think I’d put myself in the coffee connoisseur category but in life there are just a few things you can’t skimp on and one of them is coffee. So when I initially started looking into getting a coffee press I kept seeing Bodium as the dominant product on the market but then I started digging in a little and reading how their product appears to have gone down hill and that people are tasting PLASTIC in their coffee?! That is simply not acceptable and in my humble opinion a potential long-term health hazard. And it seems that most others I came across either break quickly, the plunger guts don’t last, or…

Best french press on the market

We’ve made coffee by french press method every day for more than 10 years. Because we use it every day, sometimes twice or 3 times a day, we need something pretty sturdy. We’ve had many different brands, and all had something that we hated – too fragile, didn’t keep coffee hot, didn’t filter grounds well, wasn’t big enough, etc. For the last 5 or 6 years we’ve had stainless steel Bodums, which had their problems (mainly, didn’t filter grounds very well and the plunger portion would break easily) but it was the best we found. Until now…

This press is FANTASTIC! It does exactly what it should do – we have no complaints and we have no recommendations for improvement. It is easy to clean, it holds the perfect amount of coffee, keeps it hot, cleans well, it is made VERY well (i.e., not too fragile for everyday use!) and is an excellent price. We are going to get a second one so that we have two around when we have guests. We love everything about this french…

Excellent press

I have purchased then returned three presses before ordering and keeping this one. The double wall construction and excellent design make for great cup of coffee. The screen design is of particular note as it’s proper fit and ability to keep grounds from getting past ensure no one get a surprise in their last swallow. I do recommend you let the coffee sit for a minute or two after pressing to allow the sentiment to settle out, but this is common in most presses.

Farberware Superfast Fully Automatic Electric Percolator with Cord [coffee pot] — Model 142B approx 12″ tall

nice little unit

This makes a quick smooth strong brew. Coffee is hotter & smoother than with drip style makers. No need for filters either as the stainless basket keeps them contained & lid snaps on tight letting you pour the coffee without having to remove the basket/stem first. Handy to disconnect the cord & bring the pot to the table too. The model I have has a different lid (a clear plastic bubble on lid) which I replaced with a glass one I bought here on Amazon. Nice looking, handsome pot.

DeLonghi ESAM6700 Gran Dama Avant Touch-Screen Super-Automatic Espresso Machine

Great coffee drinks at the touch of a button

After doing my own head-to-head comparison between the top DeLonghi, Saeco and Jura models, I ended up with the DeLonghi.

First and foremost, my biggest criteria was the taste of the coffee…there’s no value in having a high-end espresso machine if it doesn’t make coffee that’s at least as good as what you can make manually. Luckily, a shop near me happens to stock all three major brands, and I was able to bring a sample of the beans I usually like and compare side by side. In addition to the DeLonghi Gran Dama, I tested the Jura Z5 and the Saeco Primea. I made a simple shot and was actually amazed by the differences – I wasn’t expecting such a wide variation. Perhaps it’s possible to fine tune some of these differences out, but I found the DeLonghi to be closest to my taste, with the Jura a close second. To me, the Saeco tasted a bit “burnt” and was my least favorite. None were horrible, but the DeLonghi came closest to what I brew by hand. Based on this test, I…

Delonghi ESAM6700 vs. Saeco Xelsis Digital ID

i purchased the delonghi 6700 16 months ago. in short, it is a great machine.

about two weeks ago, i decided to buy another super automatic for another location. i decided to try something different and purchase a saeco xelsis digital ID. this turns out to have been a mistake.

out of the box, the machine reported an “E5″ error code. i called saeco and they instructed me to unplug the unit, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. after two tries, the machine booted up. the biggest problem with the machine is that the milk and the coffee is lukewarm at best. specifically, i used a digital instant read thermometer to check, and the milk stream out of the automatic frothing unit was only 115 degrees. the coffee was only 135 degrees. i spoke to the girl at seattlecoffeegear and she told me that she has the same unit at home and that they are all like this. looking at some of the online reviews, it looks like this is a common issue.

other drawbacks of the…

Way too expensive to have so many issues

I have been looking for the perfect automatic coffee/espresso machine for a long time. I have been to the big coffee websites. I’ve read all the reviews. And finally, with some trepidation, I laid down half my children’s inheritance to purchase this DeLonghi Gran Dama machine, based on the couple of reviews that I found that placed it in a positive light.

Was it worth it? Is it right for you? Well, read on and learn everything there is to know about it from a guy who has put this machine through its paces for two months.

The Pros:

- Automatic burr grinder built in that grinds from a pre-filled bean reservoir. This is very convenient and it makes a fresh and fragrant cup of stuff.

- Good temperature on the coffee, and it gets to that temperature very quickly. Never overly hot. Never tepid. Just right.

- The unit is surprisingly small and compact considering all that it is capable of. It fits perfectly into the slot that my…

Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Maca Powder Incan Superfood, 16-Ounce Bag (Pack of 2)

Gives me energy and tastes ok

I add this powder to my other berry flavored nutritional powder smoothie. I do notice a boost in energy but not nervous energy. It does help my concentration at work as well. I bring up work because that is when i take it during my 10 hour swing shift. I am not half as tired by the end of the shift as I used to be. I was expecting it to turn my energy shake bitter but actually I didnt really notice any difference in the taste of my smoothie.

Good Price, Good Product, Fast shipping

It was shipped quickly, was cheaper then most stores, was a nice bulk amount (since you only need to use a little bit of Maca in things), and the product was fresh and good.

Tea, Organic, Imperial Oolong, 18 ct ( Multi-Pack)

Strange…

Let me just say that this tea is about average. I feel like the tea wasn’t made to high standards, but then you have the fact that they’re whole leaves. I think this creates a weird situation where you have a bad product of high quality. I’m a supertaster, so I will describe the product as best as I can. It has your typical oolong bass notes, but the higher notes are very grassy (sometimes oolong is sweet, bitter…etc etc etc, this is grassy). It has a fair balance between bitterness and boldness. Incase you aren’t gathering what I’m trying to say… it’s a very neutral flavor and doesn’t really ‘wow’ me at all. The grassy flavor taste exactly like wheaties cereal (no frosted)…. and that sounds stupid but when you try it you’ll instantly make the connection.

So, in conclusion it’s a plain tea that I won’t really hold up high on my tea shrines, but it does have one last unique quality. It taste odd, but I can’t stop drinking it. It’s like raman noodles… you never say…

life saving

Lowered my total cholesterol without making any dietary changes.

Enjoying, this tea, and it came to me in a timely matter, and the quality is excellent.

It is also great to know it has health benefit.

Red Rose Premium Blended Black Tea, 100-Count (Pack of 6)

The Best for ICE TEA

This is the best tea for ice tea ever. The flavor is smooth, the amber color is beautiful and never cloudy! Never bitter. If you try Red Rose and you go back to Lipton… someone should slap you.

The best tea in the world!

Moving from New England to Texas was bad enough, but here the only tea you can find is Lipton, definitely not a good tea. Finding this tea was a life saver. I can finally enjoy a little taste of “home”.

I love this tea!

I love this tea! It’s full bodied yet mild. I’ve been drinking this tea for approximately 20+ years and wouldn’t switch to any other brand. I always take a few bags with me when traveling just in case I can’t buy it wherever I happen to be because I can’t be without my daily cup of tea (or two or three cups).

Large Flower Fairy Tea Set

Love this set!

I got this set for my 8 year old daughter and she absolutely loves them. They are so cute and the box is awesome. She has tea parties almost every day now!

Great set

This was a Christmas present for my 5 yr old daughter. She loves drinking hot tea and was using my fine china tea set for to hold tea parties with our elderly neighbor. I was looking for something that was smaller but not too small.

The pot holds roughly 1 3/4 cups of water. Enough to fill each cup twice. It came with 4 tea spoons and the basket is perfect for strorage. The pictures are whimsical and will cover all bases of "favorite" colors since each picture is a different color.

She only got it yesterday and has had 2 tea parties already – with more to come!

Giovanni Cassifluer White Tea Cleanse Body Wash, 10.5 Ounce — 6 per case.

Wonderful Stuff!

I have been using Giovanni Body Wash (White Tea scent) for several years now. I have extremely sensitive skin, prone to acne, rashes and irritations when using most other soaps. I have wasted tons of money trying soap after soap hoping to find something that wouldn’t irritate my skin, lathering well, while leaving me feeling clean. This soap has a really nice, soft scent, washes skin clean of dirt and oil and leaves no soap scum after rinsed off. This is the only soap I have found that does not cause break-outs/irritations and lathers well. I truely wish I could find a more econonmcal product that does the same job as this body wash but still haven’t found one. So I try to find really good deals when buying this body wash to help off set the cost.

Please note: this soap is a little drying.. so if you already have a dry skin conidtion this may not be the soap for you. I lived in a very warm humid climate when I started using this soap and did not notice the drying effect…

Where’s the moisture?

Ok, so I absolutely love the packaging and the nifty description on the back of the bottle, but when I’m paying .64/oz, I expect it to moisturize. Giovanni claims that their washes include “essential oil complex to soothe, smooth and regenerate skin’s lost moisture” but the ingredients’ list contains no such ingredient, unless they are referring to the “Essential Oil Fragrance” in which case they are blatantly lying because essential oils provide scent, not moisture. Even the dollar bottles of cheapo wash at Walmart contain some type of moisturizer, albeit petroleum. Sometimes I use St. Ives Whipped Silk body wash and it’s definitely more moisturizing than Giovanni due to the sunflower oil. I’ve noticed even JASON’s washes contain Sodium PCA to moisturize (although their stuff also has harsh sulfates, so I’ve never tried them). Or maybe Giovanni deliberately left out any moisturizers out so that we buy their lotions/body butters. Ha!

While I sound like I hate the product, I…

Choice Organic Teas Chai Organic Regular 2.1 oz ( Multi-Pack)

Excellent Tea

I love this tea. I first discovered the pleasures of chai after attending a yoga class. The yoga instructor made tea for us. I wanted to make some on my own, and I tried many brands and recipes, including making it from scratch. This is the best tea I found. In my opinion, steeping tea bags makes a weak, bland tea. You really need to use loose tea and cook it according to the directions. I use half and half for the milk, and it makes a rich, spicy tea. Additionally, for the sweetener, I use maple syrup instead of honey or sugar. It might sound odd, but the maple syrup blends with the chai spices much better. If you want to make authentic chai (instead of using some kind of processed powdery mix), try this one.
