Rattleware 58-Milimeter Angular Tamper

best stainless steel tamper for the price

I agree with the first guy, except about it being a great tamper “on a budget.” I don’t know what kind of budget HE has, but thirty bucks for a blunt object strikes me (so to speak) as downright extravagant. A budget would have dictated one of the solid aluminum or zinc units for a third the price or less (not the ones with the stainless bottom and acrylic shaft — acrylic is much too brittle for this application).

What THIS is is the lowest-priced well-designed/manufactured STAINLESS STEEL tamper I found. The bottom is flat, with just a soupcon of convexity at the very edge, polished to a mirror finish for a very low-friction twist and release. Precisely the upgrade I was looking for from the plastic doohickey that came with my machine; I’d buy it again.

Rattleware 58mm Stainless Steel

For the price this is just about the best tamper you can find. It is well weighted and well balanced. It fits smoothly in the hand and the angular design helps with proper technique for a slightly bigger hand. It is one piece of steel but is a great tamper on a budget.

Works well with my Gaggia Espresso Color

I threw away the OEM tamper that was included with the espresso, because this one just works. It fits well in the hands and even beginners will get a well tamped round of coffee. It’s easy to recommend this tamper.
